A little about me...I have a B.A. in Child Psychology and an M.Ed. in Behavior Disorders. I became entranced with clay when I took a handbuiding course at Callenwolde Art Center in Atlanta. I found myself a mentor who taught me more of the basics of handbuilding and slab work, and began throwing on the wheel. After a few years I stopped teaching to become a full time potter.
I am mostly self taught. My work reflects an oriental painterly feeling as I took Chinese and Japanese watercolor courses. I try to emphasize the cohesion of beauty and utility in each piece. I am having fun with copper red glazes and also yellows and greens. My own pottery collection is very eclectic ... much like a patchwork quilt ... it reflects the ever changing parts of my life and personality. |
