Salt fire is a process where salt is added to the kiln and the heat turns the salt into a natural clear glaze, giving an orange peel effect. This vase was covered in a slip mixture that not only gave it more chance to have a reaction with the salt, but you can see the potters fingerprints on the bottom of the vessel. This piece is 9”x3.5” and has a glazed inside to make it food safe and water tight.
